Netball four are aiming to be flowers of Scotland

Article courtesy of Paul Thomson, East Kilbride News

FOUR members of Claremont Netball Club’s under-17s are on course for selection to the national under-17 squad after making it through the first two selection processes.

The girls – Nicole Breen, Sarah Kerr, Gillian White and Heather Smillie – have already shone in two selection cuts.

And with two more selections to go, everyone at Claremont Netball Club is keeping their fingers crossed for the girls.

And their coach, Christine Barlas believes that all four girls can make the final 12 National Squad if they continue with their hard work and enthusiasm at the Scottish training camps.

She said: “The girls have been members of Claremont Netball Club since primary six and are a credit not only to themselves, but the club and their families.

“All four girls play for their school and for the Lanarkshire District and we hope they make the team.”

The girls thanked their school coaches, and district coaches, Jill Fullerton and Lesley Cummings for the time and effort afforded to them.
