Our first game of the day saw 5th placed Singapore Sharks play –v- Scotland Select team. With an experienced guest side it was a tough match for Sharks. Unfortunately our team Sharks lost out 49 –v- 37 against the Select team, to whom we are grateful for their contribution.

The play off for 3rd and 4th positions took place next: All Stars –v- Blades. All Stars had beaten Blades during the rounds of the competition so was history to repeat itself? Not so – this time Blades stormed ahead and by the 3rd quarter were leading All Stars by 14 goals, with a final result of 44 –v- 34 to Blades.

The final to decide 1st and 2nd places came at the end of the day. New Zealand Warriors –v- Fiji Flames was a highly anticipated game. Throughout the competition it had been close between the 2 top positioned teams with both teams achieving high scoring results. Warriors held the edge in the first 2 quarters but in the 3rd great goal scoring and aggressive attacking play by Flames saw them steal the lead 30 –v- 27. The last quarter had the crowd on the edge of their seats. With one goal in it each way it was impossible to call the winning team. However, Warriors final surge in the last 5 minutes of the game saw them win 45 –v- 37.

Our thanks go to the Umpires and Scorers for giving up their time
Umpires:

Leslie Shaw
Catherine McNee
Arlene Leary
Carolene Logan
Anne Abraitis
Ann-Marie Peacock

Scorers:
Susan Fairley
Marie Cameron

All players, coaches, and umpires were given mementos and trophy’s to mark this occasion in Lanarkshire Netballs calendar, and we hope it will continue to be as successful in future years as it has this one.

Player of the tournament was recognised by presenting a trophy to Karen Gould.

The success of this event couldn’t have been possible without our main sponsors and kit providers, Team Colours http://www.team-colours.co.uk/, and match ball suppliers Kukri, http://www.kukrisports.com/. And the many other donators of not only money, but also gifts, vouchers, time and effort into making it the success it has been.
